Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA)

The Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA) is an extension of the federal law Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. It extends the coverage of the law to employees who work on offshore platforms on the Outer Continental Shelf. It includes workers on oil rigs and platforms, harbor workers, longshoremen, and more.

The OCSLA was enacted in 1953. Since then, offshore workers have been receiving medical benefits and even death benefits for their families. It is best that you talk to a lawyer if you think you or a family member qualifies for OCSLA. You can be compensated through OCSLA even if you are at fault. It does not matter. It was meant to be inclusive.
